Internet Explorer – Slow – Detecting proxy settings

I ran across this today. Strangely enough, it was the first time. A user stated that her Internet Explorer was running slower than normal. When the user opened Internet Explorer, it appeared to hang for about 4-5 seconds before it brought up the home page. I noticed at the bottom of Internet Explorer it displayed Detecting proxy settings. A quick Google search found a solution that fixed it for my situation. Here it goes…

1. Open Internet Explorer
2. Click on Tools at the top
3. Select Internet Options
4. Click the Connections tab
5. Click LAN settings button
6. Uncheck Automatically detect settings
7. Click OK on all the windows until you’re back at the main Internet Explorer screen
8. Close out of Internet Explorer and launch it again!
