MS Windows SteadyState – Steady State – Flash9d.ocx
- 2 Comments... What do you have to say?
Well I was using Windows SteadyState to setup a kiosk computer so I can finish it with the least administrative effort. Unfortunately, what appeared to be an easy task during out to be a pain in the ass…..well….at least for one configuration setting. My task was to allow access to one website and one website ONLY. I did that but since our website contains a slideshow using Adobe Flash Player. I must have have blind the first 15 times I scrolled through the settings but I finally figured it out. This also works with any other ActiveX controls or plug-ins besides adobe flash player.
Here’s what you need to do!
*Logon to the computer using local administrator rights
*Start SteadyState (remember to have admin rights!)
*Click the user account you are working with under “User Settings”
*Select the “Feature Restrictions” tab
*Under “Internet Explorer Restrictions” make sure “Third Party Extension Buttons” is no selected.
*Now logout and login using the user accounts with the problem.
Fixed!
