Where’s telnet in Microsoft Vista?

You might be asking yourself….WTF happened to telnet in Microsoft Vista.  I felt the same way earlier today when trying to telnet into an smtp server.  Well apparently in this version of Windows it’s not installed by default.  In order to install it, you need to do the following:

  1. Start
  2. Control Panel
  3. Programs
  4. Turn Windows features on or off
  5. Click Continue if a box appears or enter an administrator password if prompted
  6. In Windows Features scroll down and select Telnet Client
  7. Click Ok….and it will install
