I did two ways. 1/ Deleted 3 (three) desktop.htt files.
2/ Changed decimal 272 to 0
restarted computer and WORKED….

I have a problem with internet explorer 8 on windows vista. ever time I close any internet explorer session or page with the “X” I get another little window pops up named “internet explorer unhandled exception” and tells me that internet explorer rasied unhandled exception in third party module and should be closed.

exertime I close this window out the IE 8 Just reloads and I cant ever close out a session with IE 8 I end up using the task manager to try to close down the extra pages that then pop up and wind up shutting the whole computer off at the on off switch. Please help me with this problem before I go MAD!!!

Yes fix # 2 worked for me ,,, took me a while to figure out that HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Desktop\SafeMode\Components
once you find HKEY_CURRENT_USER you click on it,, and scroll until you see the word Software,click on it and scroll and find the word Microsoft ,, just keep doing that until you get to the last word Components once you click on it then look to the box to your right and just follow from there , I think that is why other people were having problems getting it, Thanks ever so much for the help
