Force WSUS client to check WSUS Server

Ever want to know how to force a WSUS client to check for updates?  Open the command prompt and type wuauclt /detectnow.  I came across this when I first started using WSUS over a year ago.  It sure beats waiting for some random time or for your group policy settings to kick in.  You can verify connection between the WSUS client and WSUS server by doing a netstat -an.  The connection should be using port 80 unless you modified the default settings.
