Recently I started updating workstations to use Internet Explorer 7 and began noticing a common error on most of them.  After the IE7 install, IE7 kept trying to go to http://runonce.msn.com/runonce2.aspx.  It also bypassed the Home Page within Internet Options.

After searching the Internet for about 15 seconds, I found the solution!

********************************************

Add or edit the following registry

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main]
“RunOnceComplete”=dword:00000001
“RunOnceHasShown”=dword:00000001

********************************************

Now open IE and it should revert to your Home Page!

If this doesn’t work, try this http://support.microsoft.com/kb/945385

Here is microsofts solution for this problem. I tried it and it worked. My registry did not have the “RunOnceComplete” so I could not follow this one.

    Nice find Shanna!

I think I did find this at one point but forgot to save the URL and for some reason could not locate it again.

    Thanks again Shanna :)
