Mike Tyson – Great Boxer or Greatest Boxer Evr?

I was playing Mike Tyson’s Punch-Out today and got to thinkin’….is he just a great boxer or is he the greatest boxer ever? We already know he has the greatest video game of all time..but what about him as a professional athlete? After pondering this for a few moments…I came up with some facts as to why he HAS to be at least a great boxer:

  1. Greatest video game of all-time (I can’t seem to stress this enough)
  2. He disposed of some awesome boxers like Frank Bruno and Bruce Seldon
  3. He bit off a portion of Evander “The Real Deal” Holyfield’s ear off (it takes a man with real cohones to do that)

I need you to help decide!

I’m with the majority, “Great Boxer.” The ear biting thing removed major cool points from his boxing for me. There is no biting in boxing!

“He disposed of some awesome boxers like Frank Bruno and Bruce Seldon”

    That was a joke right?

If it wasn’t then remember Riddick Bowe despatched a Bruce Seldon in the first round too.

As for Frank Bruno, Tim Witherspoon and Bone Crusher smith knocked Bruno out.

Tyson struggled with James Tillis winning on points but Evander Holyfield stopped James Tillis in 5 rounds.

Tyson was exciting in his time but he was no great.
Your poll should have another option “Not a great”.

he is the greatest if u ask me… He is a jerk, a rapist, whatever u want, but as regards boxing, he is the greatest.
Youngest heavyweight champion of the word. The power of his punches and his style is amazing. Amazing strength, amazing power, ferocious punches..
It is him and mohammed ali in heavyweight boxing, in middleweight I would say ray jones jr and in lightweight oscar de la hoya and the black dude that won him about a year ago and he is undefeated until today…

Greatest fighter of all time is Fedor emelianenko :P

He is the greatest ever in his prime. Muhammed Ali HIMSELF said he would lose to tyson if the two faced off in their prime. Ali noted that he was a dancer, and a single blow to the melon from tyson would’ve left him laid out dead, just for sport. The only problem Tyson had is that he occasionally got frusterated and was reduced to tactics he aquired on the streets of brooklyn (biting, elbows, headbutts).
